- South Wales Daily News 07/06/1877: "At the fortnightly meeting of the Merthyr Board of Health yesterday, it was resolved that a fire station should be erected on a piece of land opposite the Castle Hotel, for the keeping of the necessary apparatus, and also a similar station at Dowlais." [very early station. Info re ATV & TrP, so presume this was a much later one as approx 75 years difference!]
